Flawless album. No skipping tracks, in fact, it leaves you wanting more. The title track became an instant favorite of mine, my daughter loves Hummingbird and we both sing along to Cats and the Fiddle. Stop reading the reviews and just buy it.

Sorry, but I am NOT going to publish photographs of me sleeping peacefully whilst the lovely & talented Gothard Sisters relax and subdue my troubled mind in the evenings. Good Lord, I've consumed a rather large variety of help-me-sleep potions for a few years and all I really needed was you ladies? Seriously, your amazing offerings truly relax me and offer such serenity that I am now sleeping the night through! Incredibly, I first saw you in Allerton Park; Monticello, Illinois last year and it took me about 7 months to finally order some CD's! <sigh> Just think, I could have had 7 more months of serenity. The combination of your voices & instruments are simply wonderful to hear. Thank you!

If you loved Dragonfly, and are wondering what to get next…Midnight Sun is the answer IMHO. It’s another, wonderfully flawless, all original album.
Songs rage from playful to wistful, but all contain a very strong and effective storytelling component. The compositions are all just wonderful, making you really feel the music in your heart (instead of just hearing it with your ears).
I can’t even pick out a favorite song, because each one is marvelous in its own unique way. I could easily ramble on about what I like about each, but I won’t bore you with my opinions. Just get ready for great music and lyrics, wonderful stories, crazy mandolin and fiddle jams, an angelic voice…and (I feel) some graciously shared personal insight into the life that helps shape these wonderful artists.

Wandering, and the video they made for it, is my favorite GS song of all. Such a fantastic way of looking at the world! Of all their music, I still like to go back and watch this one over and over.
This entire album is filled with visions of magical places, beginning with the title track. From there, the journey continues, to come full circle by ending with Colors of Home. The writing on this album is superb.
If you have a case of wanderlust and want some music to take you away to wonderful places, this is it. Get this one!
Hampel Rutledge
I've enjoyed every track on the album. I especially like "The Colors of Home" and the contrast with "Wandering." Of course the title track is great!

This is an awesome cd. The Gothard Sisters have not recorded any music that I don't LOVE.

'Midnight Sun' is an album you need to have in your music library. The Gothard Sisters have always been top tier professional musicians with outstanding songwriting and performances. However, they have absolutely raised their own standard of excellence with 'Midnight Sun.' This album should be on your birthday and Christmas gift list, too!
My two favorites (right now...lol!) songs on this album is Against the Grain because it has an engaging energy, and Colors of Home because it invokes wonderful memories of home and going home after a long trip like flying into SeaTac and seeing the 'green' of WA. Both of these songs are ones I can put on repeat and listen to for hours.

I have been a long time fan of the Gothard Sisters. I really enjoy their covers of trad Irish music, and always enjoyed when they would slip an original song into the lineup. This new album blew me out of the water. Every song is carefully and thoughtfully written and produced. It truly captures their essence as musicians. After listening to this on repeat, I can't wait until they release more original music!

I first discovered the music of these ladies this summer through an ad on facebook and fell in love with the Dragonfly album. After listening to it over and over (literally dozens of times!) I bought Midnight Sun because it's the other all-original album. This one is also so good! It's a different mood than Dragonfly but I like it a lot. I would recommend it to anyone else who loves Dragonfly!
Gary Watson
I really enjoyed the way this album mixed the instrumental tracks with the vocals so much that I found myself dancing in the car while I was driving. Super, keep it up.

Midnight Sun is a delight to listen to. Their is nothing old, borrowed or blue here. Just pure delightful original music that the listener won't hear by any other performers. I first met the Gothard Sisters in 2010 when none of them may have been old enough to get a drivers license. I knew then they would develop to be a "big deal". With Midnight Sun they exceeded my 2010 expectations for them. Sit back and enjoy the sisters at their very best with this collection of songs and instrumentals.

I love it!! Beautiful music!! I have enjoyed listening to the album almost every day since I got it.
Bob
With every album the Gothard Sisters release, they raise the bar. Midnight Sun is no exception, all original, all wonderfully crafted songs.

You know how most albums have some fantastic songs, and some good songs, and then maybe another couple songs that are okay for a couple listens but honestly they end up getting the skip treatment? But maybe one in a hundred in my collection are "perfect" albums -- ones where every tune fits in place, and you can listen over and over without any tune grating. The kind of album where the worst problem is overplaying it.
Midnight Sun is that kind of album.

This entire album is awesome - so many EXCELLENT tracks! My personal off-the-charts favorite is “Hummingbird” - I’ve had it on repeat constantly and LOVE it. I can’t wait for whatever The Gothard Sisters release next!!!

"Midnight Sun" is the fourth Gothard
Sisters CD I've purchased and I love every one of them! My first was "Story Girl," then "Compass," then "Mountain Rose," and now "Midnight Sun!" Keep up the great work!!!

This new CD by The Gothard Sisters is a wonderful achievement. This all original music album is both beautifully written and skifully performed. Every single track exudes fun, emotion and energy. I absolutely love it.
The title track, “Midnight Sun,” sets the tone. “Wandering” beautifully captures the mood that those of who frequently travel feel as we go about our adventures. “Cat and The Fiddle” is a nice throwback to childhood. The collab song, “When The Rain Falls” is really nice piece. The acoustic, “Hummingbird” gets you moving with an underlying pulsing drum beat. “Colors of Home” brings it all together with an emotional conclusion. These are only a few of the tracks but every single one is fantastic.
As a big fan of Celtic music, Midnight Sun is up there as one of my favorites. In my opinion, this album establishes The Gothard Sisters as legends among the likes of Altan, Andy M Stewart (Silly Wizard), Lunasa, Wolfstone, The Tannahill Weavers, Liz Carroll and many others.
I’m so happy I discovered their music and I highly recommend this album to all of you considering a purchase.

The sisters are real people, there is nothing phony about them. They have great hearts and a true love for their music. I listen to their music every day and love it when they put out new music. Midnight Sun is like a glass of cool water on a hot day. I love it.

With every album The Gothard Sisters release, they raise the bar. Midnight Sun is no exception, all original, all wonderfully crafted songs. Songs that tell stories are a quickly fading art, it is refreshing that The Gothard Sisters are keeping that art alive and doing so in splendid fashion. I have lost count of how many time I have listened to it since I bought it. Truly enjoyable!

The Gothard Sisters have consistently made Celtic trad their own sound, and this album continues the trend. Their sweet sound takes on a tiny twinge of pepper in just the right places. Rich instrumentals weave together well. Mermaids are the good guys.

Twelve wonderful original songs by these women. Great songs from the title song, "Midnight Sun" to the "Colors of Home" fresh and clean. I've seen them in concert twice and their album is every bit as good as their shows which are superb. I'm awed by their talents.

After discovering this group on YouTube, I was overwhelmed by the quality of work and attention to detail in their videos and music performances. I've purchased all their albums and a T-shirt; I'm that "sold" on them. I highly recommend checking out their video "The Three Coins" on YouTube. If you cannot get through that without wanting to dance a jig yourself, then by all means run out and get all their stuff. Wholesome goodness delivered by dedicated and professional musicians. Cannot ask for more!

I really enjoy listening to The Sisters. Their Christmas album Falling Smow is really great too.
